GEO
GEO and AI search
GEO is the work of making sure AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI Mode can find your business, describe it correctly and recommend it. Traditional SEO is about ranking in Google's list of links. GEO is about being named and cited inside the AI's answer, where there is no page one: the AI either mentions you or it doesn't.
SEO targets Google's ranking of links, which rewards keywords, backlinks and domain authority. AI engines pick a few sources they trust and write an answer from them, so they reward clear, consistent facts, pages that answer real questions, and mentions on the sites they cite. A page can rank #1 on Google and still be missing from ChatGPT's answer. Most businesses need both.
Start with your facts and your answers. (1) Make your business name, address, services and credentials the same everywhere: your site, Google Business Profile and directories. (2) Add structured data that describes your business. (3) Write pages that answer the exact questions your customers ask, leading with the answer. (4) Use specific, sourced numbers instead of vague claims. (5) Get listed on the third-party sites AI already cites for your category. Or let BlueJar's team do this for you on the monthly plan.
By hand: ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI Mode the questions your customers would ask, and see if you're named. One check isn't reliable, because AI answers change from run to run. The faster way is a free BlueJar snapshot: we ask the engines a structured set of customer questions and email you where you appear, who appears instead, and what to fix first.
AI tools cite pages that give them something specific and trustworthy to repeat: clear facts, direct answers, named sources, and consistent information across the web. Third-party mentions matter as much as your own site. AI leans heavily on directories, review sites, community discussions and comparison pages, so being present and accurate there is part of the work.
More searches end without a click: 58.5% of US Google searches in 2024 ended without one (SparkToro). When Google shows an AI Overview, organic click-through on informational searches fell 61% (Seer Interactive, 2025), but brands cited inside the AI Overview earned 35% higher click-through than those that weren't. SEO isn't dead, but being the source AI quotes is becoming the way to stay visible.
For each AI engine: how often you're named (mention rate), how often your own site is linked as a source (citation rate), and how often you're missing entirely. Break that down by type of question and type of customer. Track which competitors are named instead, which sites AI cites, and whether what AI says about you is accurate. BlueJar reports all of these in every analysis and re-runs the same questions each month on the plan.
METHOD
How BlueJar works
We build them from your business, not from a keyword list. From your website we capture what you offer, where you operate and who your competitors are. Then we map the types of customer who buy from you, which of your services matter most to your business, and the real-life moments that send each customer to ask AI for help, such as starting a business, nearing retirement or moving to a new town. Each question is written for one customer type, one stage of the buying journey (understanding the problem, comparing options, or ready to choose) and one of seven question zones. We review the customer types, priorities and moments with you before anything runs.
(1) Brand knowledge: does AI know you exist, and describe you correctly? (2) Category presence: are you named when someone asks for the best business like yours? (3) Problem relevance: are you recommended for the specific problems you solve? (4) Service association: are you linked to the specific services you offer? (5) Competitor comparison: do you appear when people compare options? (6) Industry authority: are you cited as an expert source? (7) Local intent: do you appear when people ask for help near them?
Many tools check a fixed list of prompts and report one score. Because our questions follow real customers through the buying journey, the report shows not just whether AI names you, but for which customers, at which stage and for which service. The fix plan then goes after the gaps that cost you the most customers first.
FAQ
About BlueJar
BlueJar shows where AI tools leave your business out, and then fixes it. We ask the AI engines the questions your customers ask, map who gets named and which sources AI relies on, and build a prioritized fix plan. On the monthly plan, our team implements the fixes on your website, listings and profiles, re-runs the same questions every month, and sends a one-page summary of what changed.
Five: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Mode. Google's AI Overviews aren't measured separately, but they draw on the same signals our fixes target. We don't check Claude or Grok today.
A snapshot is a one-time check. On the monthly plan we re-run the same set of questions every month, so the numbers are comparable, and send a one-page summary of what moved and why. There are no instant alerts: AI answers vary from run to run, and the changes worth acting on show up over weeks, not hours.
Our team does the work. On your site: business details markup, llms.txt and crawl access, page updates, and new pages that answer your customers' questions. Off your site: Google Business Profile, Bing and Apple listings, directories and professional profiles, kept consistent. You approve every change before it goes live.
Yes. Every analysis shows which competitors AI names instead of you, for which questions and on which engines, and the sources that send AI to them. On the monthly plan you see how that gap moves over time.
The snapshot is free, with no card and no obligation. Ongoing work is a simple monthly plan that includes the fixes and the monthly re-run, priced for the size of your business.
We never need customer data. Everything we measure is public. To make fixes, we need a website login and manager access to your Google Business Profile and other listings. You can remove that access at any time.
Nothing is published without your approval. For financial advisors, content goes to your compliance officer first, and to your broker-dealer's review if you're affiliated with one. We don't give legal or compliance advice and never describe content as "compliant": that decision is yours.
We improve your website and business information, then test and refine monthly to strengthen AI visibility and create more opportunities for inbound leads. Results aren’t guaranteed, but each step is guided by measured progress.
BlueJar is built for businesses that need to be visible in AI search, with a focus on four industries: financial advisors, financial services (banks, credit unions, insurance and lending), auto dealers and local businesses.
